I've been up to lots of good these last few days in Charleston. Last week, I teamed up with Ooh! Events in Charleston to capture this beautifully designed styled shoot. Here is the first official teaser. Many more photos coming soon!
I have been in Charleston for a month and a half now, and I wanted to give you all an update on how this trial period is going. In case you weren't aware, I moved me and Nolte out here to stay with my parents for a few months to see if we wanted to make this our new permanent home. My parents moved out almost three years ago and couldn't say enough good things about the city, and so far, I understand why.
The city is beautiful! Full of history and charm. Charm. That is the number one word that comes out of my mouth the most to describe this place. It's just adorable! The colorful buildings, secret hidden alleys filled with tiny bars and perfect restaurants with impressive menus. To be honest, when I first got here, I wasn't too excited. Seeing the "tourist's view" of the city isn't quite as exciting as seeing the local's perspective. I have a long list of new favorite restaurants and bars that I will share eventually just in case you ever make it out this way to visit.
Some have been asking if I am going to make this my forever home, and the answer... I still don't know. I am still trying to figure that out. I love it here, but I also love Austin. It really is a difficult choice. Luckily, I don't have to make a decision for another two months, so I am going to enjoy as much of this beautiful city as I can and hopefully I will know soon enough. I will be in Austin in March from the 4th to the 24th. Weddings, Spring Mini-Sessions, and lots more fun going on! Let's get together for coffee and catch up or let me know if you'd like to get on the Mini-Session calendar. I can't wait to see you all!!
Below, I have posted a collection of images I have taken (with my iPhone) since I've been here. This will give you a little taste of what this place is all about. Everyone needs to come out to visit this city once in their life. It's totally worth it!
Until the next update...

Every now and then there is a couple that comes along that truly know how to party... and, THIS is that couple. I had such a blast working with Sarah and Josh and all their peeps! We got blessed with an amazing day, amazing venue, perfect weather, and just an all-around good time. Here are some of my favorites from their wonderful day. Enjoy!
This is my third time to photograph the Miller Family, and like always... they brought their A-Game. These kiddos keep me on my toes and are full of silly jokes, silly faces and just all-around silliness. The Millers have an especially interesting story which Michelle and Chris have shared in their upcoming book Where Have All the Storks Gone? - "a funny, yet touching view of infertility through the voice of a couple who has gone through it all."
They are also hosting a Kickstarter to help launch a children's book titled The Angel Guardian. (These parents clearly don't like to sit still...) You can see their book and Kickstarter here:
Here are a few of my favorite images from their session at the always gorgeous Mayfield Park in Austin. Enjoy!
When this beautiful new family invited me to come to Canyon, Texas to take their very first family portraits... I couldn't have been more thrilled. Will and Shannon live in Galveston, but Will grew up in Canyon, Texas. We did their session in his childhood home and in Palo Duro Canyon where he spent much of his childhood camping and exploring. One of my favorite things about shooting in their Canyon home was the amazing amount of trophies and awards collected over the past 50 years by Will and his parents for their participation in riding and showing horses as well as training dogs. This is a TRUE Texas family... and honestly, anyone who loves horses and pups is GOLDEN in my book.
Shannon and Will recently had their first son, Jim Dean, named after Will's father. I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with them while in Canyon, and let me just say... Dean has to be the sweetest and happiest one month old baby I've ever met. (And, I've met quite a few...) He had so many smiles to share with me... needless to say, I fell in love.
So, without further adeu... here are my favorite images from my time with Shannon, Will, and Dean.
One of my best gals in Austin asked me to come out to Freemont, CA with her to photograph her beautiful family. Her parents, brother, and sisters along with their families all joined in. Here are some of my favorites from that special day.
I am excited to finally share the photos from the styled shoot I captured with so many great vendors in Austin. This shoot took place at Hillside Farmacy in East Austin. (One of my all-time favorite brunch spots.) We wanted to share the love of a beautiful lesbian couple, Charlie and Harlow. Here is the fantastic collection of images. I hope you all enjoy!
