But right now, a meaningful number of people, including many of the professionals and decision-makers your business is trying to reach, can tell something's off even if they can't articulate what. And when they can tell, the read isn't neutral. It reads as a little evasive. A little too polished. Off-putting in a way that undercuts the exact impression you were trying to create.
HOW TO SPOT AN AI HEADSHOT
If you're evaluating your own options, or just curious what to look for, here are the most common giveaways:
Skin that looks unnaturally smooth or airbrushed, with none of the natural texture a camera actually picks up.
Backgrounds that feel slightly blurred or generic in a way that doesn't match any real space.
Ears, hands, or the edges of glasses that look subtly warped or asymmetrical.
Hair with strands that blend strangely into the background or disappear altogether.
Lighting that doesn't quite make sense, shadows falling in directions that don't match, or no shadow at all.
And a general sense of symmetry that's a little too perfect, too smooth, too uncanny to be a real, unposed moment.
Individually, these signs can be subtle. Together, they add up to a feeling most people register even before they consciously notice the details.
